Rozen Maiden -manga-

|| ||
I watched the anime years ago, when I started my other blog more or less and I loved the characters and the animations and details... but thinking now about it, maybe it wasn't that good.

Name: Rozen Maiden
Volumes: 8
Year: 2002
Author: Peach-Pit

Jun Sakurada is a hikikomori who spend the days buying cursed dolls on the internet to find that they are normal and return them just before the dead-line. Everything goes wrong when one of the dolls are alive and make him sign a contract with her.

The life of Jun changed when he sign the contract and became the slave of the doll called Shinku. She tell him about the war between the Rozen Maiden dolls to become Alice and be with their father. Because they are not perfect, they have to die and just one can be their master's daughter. The problem start when some of them really die and the seventh doll who never had a real body is awake and steals one of the dolls life and body.

I like the drawing and the details in the dolls, but I think the story is slow and everything happens at the end. Not a big fan of the characters either, I don't really sympathize with anyone but I fell sorry when two of them died.

I personally bought the manga (in a nice shop in Edinburgh, second hand one) to see if it was the same than the anime and hoping for some more explanations of the story and about the dolls. But no, it ends right before the last battle and it was pretty much the same than the anime.
I know is some more series, between 2008 - 2014 with 10 volumes and a new one from 2016 til present. I guess I'll have to find them to see if is something more on the story.
